There was laughter all round when Mary Mouawad and David Drain organised the Mount Kembla Pub Caltex Lead Bike Convoy 2016 Fundraising Launch.
It was also a celebration of what has been achieved at the hotel in 2015.
The fundraising kicked off with Jason Beasley shaving off his beard for the kids and families of Camp Quality
A series of fundraising activities will be held throughout the year and Mr Drain’s vision is that one day the lead bike fundraising will match that of the trucks in the annual i98fm and Camp Quality Convoy.
Mr Drain said people such as Mount Kembla performer Emily Markham and Santa’s helper “Kav” donated their time for such events and was a reflection of just how generous the surrounding community is. The beard shave alone raised $1160.
And Santa told Mr Beasley he might have to wait a few years to get one that looks just like his. It is not white enough yet.

Spirit of the ANZACS
The RSL and Legacy are recognising the Centenary of ANZAC at the moment and Major General B.W. “Hori” Howard is encouraging people looking for something to do around Wollongong in January to visit the Spirit of ANZAC Centenary Exhibition.
Entry is free and it will be open from January 11 to 20. But because of the expected demand bookings are required.
The travelling exhibition will be based at the University of Wollongong while visiting the Illawarra.
It includes recreated World War I environments and artefacts usually only housed at the Australian War Memorial.
It also features interactive technology and a narrated audio guide to assist visitors to fully appreciate and commemorate the First World War and the following 100 years of Service.
It is suitable for all ages and

Who is having a holiday
Some interesting results from an IRIS Research VoxPop on summer holiday plans. It showed only 7.7 per cent of respondents are planning a four week summer break. Almost half (47.4 per cent) are having two weeks or less vacation and 14.1 per cent are having no time off at all. Of those taking a break 68.2 per cent are planning some time away from home and 43.6 per cent plan to do it somewhere in NSW.
