Mrz Hyde is fast growing a reputation and being sought by many live music venues. Early feedback is so good Mrz Hyde is quickly cementing itself as a great live rock outfit. And lead singer Suzi Kulakovski has plenty of international experience behind her. After growing up in Port Kembla she formed an original band in Las Vegas but wanted to come home and bring her love of classic rock, grunge and hard rock with her. “I wanted to do it back here and play my favourite songs from the past..mostly songs I grew up with,” she said.
Word has spread rapidly about the high standard of musicianship and Suzi’s powerful voice. Last week Mrz Hyde played at the Bradbury in Campbelltown and on New Years Eve it is turning the volume to loud at The Oaks Hotel, Albion Park. “My voice seems so much more suited to really powerful stuff. I am a female front who sings some heavy rock. That differentiates us. We are just doing things that people don’t typically hear. We are trying to learn something new every week. We are onto Motley Crew now (Kickstart My Heart)”.
The song list includes Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Deep Purple, Heart and Kiss. On returning to Australia after seven years Suzi set about putting together a band to match her hard hitting vocal style. She found four professional musos who have played together for many years. Drummer Tim McAlary has toured and recorded with many artists. Bass is Luigi DelliFiori and guitarists are Yilmaz Dilber and Stewart McKechnie. “We are hitting it hard. And we are already being sought after which is really good. We are getting really good feedback which is great,” Suzi said.
Mrz Hyde has recently played at the North Gong, Kiama, Nowra, Sussex Inlet and at the Billy Cart Derby. Suzi described Port Kembla as being like a reunion. So many people said hello. Some from school who remembered a band she was in at 16 called “Sezhoo”. “We played Warrawong shopping centre. I think that’s as far as we got”. Coming gigs are Bally Hotel - Jan 9, Dicey Riley’s - Jan 22, Warilla Bowling Club - Jan 30, North Gong Hotel - Feb 5 and Cooee Hotel, St Georges Basin – Feb 6. Details www.mrzhyde.com.au.
