A Lake Macquarie man had his New Year’s Eve plans foiled when he was arrested for drug supply and an outstanding warrant when pulled over for a random breath test.

Mathew Joseph Parr, 46 of Cardiff Heights was stopped in Bellambi for a breath test and licence check. Police allege a search of the car revealed 10 grams of methylamphetamine and 2.7 grams of cannabis. They also allegedly found needles, scales and spoons. According to tended police facts the officers also found $2,410 cash.
Parr allegedly told police the drugs were for personal use and admitted being a heavy meth user. He also told police he had recently received a $130,000 inheritance following the death of his mother, according to tended facts. The outstanding warrant related to drug supply matters. Parr was charged with fresh drug matters and other offences.
In Port Kembla Local Court, registrar Bruiceen Coulthard refused bail, saying the prosecution case was strong and there were concerns Parr may fail to appear. The case was adjourned to January 13.
