For 10 years the usual country-star has been thinking about getting some of his best mates together for a tour of songs “fit for a road-trip holiday”. In 2015 super-group The Outlaws were finally born.
Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr join Brand with a sound described as a mash-up of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kid Rock.
“This group of guys always kind of erred on the wrong side of politically correct from time to time,” said Brand. “The country music establishment has raised their eyebrows at the things we’ve done and our antics occasionally. We’re a good match, we all love having fun, we all love playing loud and a little longer than we should.”
He said as they’re all artists in their own right, they’ll all be swapping lines, courses and verses of some epic songs and the audience is encouraged to join in.
Their self titled album is out now, with covers ranging from Cold Chisel, Queen, Jet, Poison and more.
