Shellharbour MP Anna Watson has called on the NSW government to release details of the study into ways to improve the notorious bottleneck of the Princes Highway at Albion Park Rail.
In the current budget, $100,000 was allocated for what the Roads and Maritime Services website called "planning for a possible future upgrade of the Princes Highway between Yallah and Oak Flats".
Ms Watson said the funding was announced "following pressure from me".
"Since that time we have heard nothing more from the government about the study," Ms Watson said.
"I call on the premier to release details of the study into the Illawarra's 'missing link' so that long-suffering residents of Albion Park Rail and the commuters who use that road daily can have some answers on the government's plans."
In conjunction with Shellharbour City Council, RMS has assisted with the placement of a potential Albion Park Rail bypass corridor on the council's Local Environment Plan.
A spokesman for Roads Minister Duncan Gay said RMS had been working on the possibility of an upgrade to the highway.
"RMS is carrying out a review of previous studies to ensure the gazetted bypass route remains the most suitable location for a future bypass of Albion Park Rail," he said.
"The possible option is a long-term concept which RMS will further develop with council and the community during the detailed planning stage of the project, when funding becomes available."
