The new eatery inside Hotel Illawarra compliments the recent arrival and aroma of Bar Pelligrini which is open for coffee from 6.30am.
Keira Street Social By Dan fits in with what Paul Anzani and the team are doing at the centrally located hotel. And after years working with some of the best in Sydney, chef Daniel Clynes decided it was time to come to a place where it was all happening in the food scene.
“As a junior chef I have been fortunate to work with Rockpool Group in Sydney. I have also had the opportunity to work with the likes of Heston Blumenthal (Fat Duck) and Thomas Kellar (French Laundry)..which taught me that each dish should have its own character in sight and taste. There are also some Asian influences in our menu,” he said.
But Mr Clynes describes his food as Modern Australian. His focus is on casual affordable dining and using the best local produce. Keira Street Social By Dan is open for lunch from 12 to 3pm and dinner from 6 to 9pm. Mr Clynes said it was great to be in the heart of the growing food hub in Wollongong where people were beginning to have so much choice and quality, freshness and service was so important.
