For the LBPR founder a cheeky post on Facebook one night last September changed her her life the next day when she fulfilled her longtime dream of meeting her hero.
Virginia Wren, of Illawarra ITeC, had told her that Branson was speaking at the National Achiever’s Congress in Sydney it set off a chain of events the concluded in them sharing the stage.
‘’When I found out Richard was going to be in the country an hour from home..I had to be there. I just wanted to breath the same air,’’ she said.
As Ms Burling sat through the day she did not know the fun post she made the night before had resulted in the chance to tick the number one item off her bucket list six months ahead of schediule.
‘’One of my best friends (Erin Maher) is the news director at 2GB,’’ she said.
‘’We went to university together and she saw..the stupid picture I had posted on Facebook..where I put my head on a photo of a lady with Richard on an island and just said “I am going to see him the next day..and if we do get together this is what we’ll look like”. I am a massive believer in if you put it out there and let the universe know you never know what might happen.’’
Mr Burling also enjoyed plenty of good news with her public relations business late in the year.
In October LBPR won the title of Micro Consultancy of the Year at the Public Relations Institute of Australia Awards.
Ms Burling said the judges said it was best of the best of consultancies with teams of three or less.
And in November LBPR was named Outstanding New Illawarra Business at the Illawarra Business Awards.
Business in Heel is a networking group for businesswomen that has a new organiser in Chris Jeffreys.
Ms Jeffreys invited Ms Burling to speak at the first meeting of 2016 so she could inspire businesswomen with her story about starting a new business two years ago after unexpectedly becoming a single mum.
Business In Heel also has a new venue. The meeting is being held in the brand new function room at Central Hotel in Shellharbour on February 9.
