A member of the public alerted authorities after noticing the yacht, with four adults on board, floundering about 200 metres from shore around 3pm.
Marine Rescue Jervis Bay watch officer Michael Mullins said rescue vessel JB40 was launched to assist the yacht, which had lost its mast.
“There were four adults on board,” Mullins said. “No-one was in distress and JB40 towed them back in.”
The yacht was towed back to Collingwood beach at Vincentia.
