The club knows the park’s potential to show visitors the beauty and culturally rich heritage of the area. A priority is providing adequate services to best cater for whatever tourism vision the community adopts. Members have been watching the debate around ideas such as an adventure park with BMX trail, Gondola and kiosk.
“As our forefathers of the Rotary Club of Wollongong, had the foresight and took the initiative to build the access road to Summit Park, so do we now have a purpose in getting power and water connected. We have the support of all key stakeholders and decision makers to drive this initative to reality," Dot Hennessy said.
President Michael Hough and Leigh Robinson also applaud the work done by Botanic Garden staff in maintaining the park Rotarians, using their own bulldozers and trucks, built in 1955.
