The fashion stylist to the stars then plans on sharing his happy snaps with his almost 15,000 Twitter followers using the hashtag #AustraliaDay.
For the first time people can tweet using the #AustraliaDay hashtag to generate a new emoji created specifically for Australia Day 2016.
Each time the hashtag ‘#AustraliaDay’ is used on Twitter, the image of a koala wearing green and gold ‘shades’ will automatically be added to the tweet.
Galella, who grew up in West Wollongong, is Shellharbour City’s Australia Day ambassador.
The designer, millner and makeover expert said he was looking forward to celebrating Australia Day with family and friends.
‘’My parents and sisters still live in West Wollongong so it will be good to catch up with them and enjoy the day,’’ he said.
‘’I’m also looking forward to taking part in Shellharbour City’s celebrations at Reddall Reserve. I plan on taking a lot of photos and posting them on Twitter using the hashtag #AustraliaDay.’’
Galella doesn’t expect people to dress in their finest attire on January 26 but he has one Australia Day fashion no-no – ‘’don’t drape the Australian flag around you.’’
‘’By all means wear some red and blue board shorts and t-shirts but avoid draping the flag around you at all times,’’ he said.
‘’Dress comfortably and casually and most importantly enjoy the day.
‘’I also encourage people to embrace the Twitter technology and take photos using the #AustraliaDay hashtag to share your special memories with family and friends.’’
Shellharbour City's Australia Day festivities at Reddall Reserve include Breakfast by the Lake (7am-10am), live music, animal farm, pony rides, youth activities and Amp It Up (11am-2pm).
Kiama three-piece The Vanns will be headlining the Amp It Up concert.
Shellharbour Council’s Youth Service is hosting the free event which aims to develop the skills and experience of budding performers whilst giving something back to the community.
Local acts Archy Punker, Velvet Elevator and Rose Amongst Thorns will support the indie rock band.
Galella will speak on the stage at 8am.
