Boy, 14, bashed in ‘home invasion’

A man is in custody after an alleged home invasion at Figtree on Sunday.

A man has been charged over an alleged home invasion at Figtree, where a 14-year-old boy was injured, on Sunday morning.

Just after midnight, a man and a woman entered a home on O’Donnell Drive and confronted the teenager who was at the premises alone. 

Police allege the man assaulted the boy a number of times, before smashing a mobile phone and overturning a coffee table. 

The pair left the scene.

The boy suffered swelling and bruising to his face; however did not require further treatment.

Police were called and a crime scene was established at the home. 

Following inquiries, a 41-year-old man was arrested on the Princes Highway at Dapto and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

A woman, 42, was spoken to by police but wasn’t arrested. The man was charged with aggravated break and enter using violence.

He was refused bail and will appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Monday.
