Jockey Paul King sure thought so and it was hard to ignore the similarities between the pair’s debuts.
Almost 12-months to the day since English broke her maiden in style at Kembla Grange, Global Glamour put on a similar galloping lesson on Saturday.
English went on to finish second in the Group 1 Golden Slipper behind stablemate Vancouver less than two months later after her debut romp.
The same path could well follow for Global Glamour.
“When I won on English here I was very impressed with her. This filly she gave me a similar type of feel,” King said.
“It is obviously how they progress but I don’t think there is a lot between them at this point at the same stage.
“It depends on how they improve after this run.”
Races like the Group 2 Reisling Stakes or Silver Slipper are both options next start for Global Glamour after her sensational debut.
But the stable has one key date on their mind.
“Gai will certainly have the [Golden] Slipper in her sights so we will see how she pulls up before we decided the next step,” stable representative Emma Pearce said.
Global Glamour is now considered a $26 hope for the Golden Slipper with TAB Sportsbet.
Stablemate Scarlet Rain is at $15 behind hot favourite and Magic Millions winner Capitalist ($3.50)
Both Waterhouse contenders now hold unbeaten records after Global Glamour’s dominant first-up triumph.
Despite being tardy out of the barrier in the ITC Corporate Members Raceday 2yo Maiden Plate (1000m), King mustered from the inside barrier and quickly reached the front.
Global Glamour kicked clear at the top of the straight and continued to extend the margin in the run to the post to triumph by 6-¼ lengths over Godolphin’s Silent Sea and stablemate Lord Macau.
“She is nice and progressive,” King said.
“She took a little step backwards coming out of the gates which sort of put her on the back foot after we jumped but I just loved the way she picked up and rallied.
“Probably the inside is definitely off and once I was able to get to that seven to eight wide position she found the line.
“Typical one of Gai’s. She is a master of getting two-year-olds up and running.”
King was confident Global Glamour would comfortably make the step up to the next level.
“She has got a lot better things heading her way than provincial racing,” he said.
