Police seek clues to the identity of a man found dead in waters off Kiama

Police are appealing for assistance to identify a man whose body was found off the coast of Kiama on Tuesday. 

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, 20-35 years of age, 168-173cm tall, with a slim build and black hair.

He carried no personal identification when he was discovered floating lifeless about 500 metres from Kiama Lighthouse, about 12.30pm.

He was wearing dark blue denim jeans, a black/maroon t-shirt with white triangles and black New Balance shoes.

Port Kembla Water Police, with assistance from officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

A post mortem examination will be conducted this week, however at this stage, the man remains unidentified and his cause of death is yet to be determined.
