The ADF will be conducting maritime training from now until in April in various coastal areas including Jervis Bay.
Training will also be held in Sydney Harbour, Nelson Bay, Hawkesbury River, Port Jackson and Botany Bay.
The training will involve the use of military watercraft.
Some of the activities are scheduled to occur at night and personnel involved in the training will be carrying weapons and tactical equipment.
Residents should not be concerned if they hear or see these activities occurring as the exercise is part of the ADF’s normal, scheduled training calendar.
The training activities are designed to provide a realistic test of ADF skills and to ensure the ADF maintains the highest level of capability to respond, where required, to support Australia’s national interests.
The training has been extensively planned, will be conducted with all relevant safeguards and poses no danger to the public.
Defence acknowledges that these activities may result in possible disturbances to local residents, however, wherever possible, the ADF seeks to minimise this disruption.
