Shortly after 1pm emergency services were called to the corner of Nolan Street and the Princes Highway Unanderra where two vehicles collided heavily. It is understood the impact resulted in one vehicle eventually coming to rest on top of the bonnet of the other.
Ambulance NSW Illawarra district officer Inspector Terry Morrow said four ambulances were despatched to the accident as initial reports suggested the six children and two female drivers were all injured. However he said upon arrival and assessment of those involved in the accident, not all the ambulances were required.
“We transported two adult females and one young child to Wollongong Hospital,” Insp Morrow said.
“The impact from the collision caused seatbelt and air-bag injuries.”
