The proposed seven-storey development on the narrow Wollongong Hospital side street would replace a single storey cottage and contain 13 apartments, 23 parking spaces and two retail premises.
Applicant Ben Lam has also proposed an extension to Khan Lane, which runs parallel with Loftus Street from Denison Street, to allow the building to have a street frontage that complies with Wollongong council development standards.
The retail premises would front Loftus Street, while car and pedestrian entry would run off the lane.
According to plans with Wollongong council the proposal would “activate the site” and renew ageing housing stock.
