Ulladulla fired for the Jess Sam’s Tournament with heaps of marlin both days.
Closer to home Tim Smith and Pete Burnside headed out on Sunday morning to chase themselves a beakie and after trolling up a pair of decent 10 kilo dollies, the 10 kilo outfit screamed off - both boys thought marlin.
Minutes later Pete boated his first ever wahoo of around the 10kg mark which had them both all smiles.
Michael Wearing and Aaron Baker have been making the most of the afternoon conditions running out to the fad after work and landing good dollies but the latest trip turned up solid dolphin fish of 15kg and 8kg.
Clint Burns did a solo run chasing marlin and dolphin fish and won out with a black estimated at over 100 kilos that he cut loose boat side to fight another day.
Those chasing snapper found the conditions tough on Sunday as getting a bait through the masses of bait was near impossible. But persistence paid off for Henry Wederman and Chris Giles who landed fish to 2kg.
Jason Klower found good snapper off Bellambi last week with a couple of trips producing full bags with some of the reds near 4 kilos.
Off the beaches the warm water is bringing out some odd catches of late with the strangest one being John Sherwood’s report of catching two sharks on the one rig intended for a Jewfish. One of the sharks was a blue shark indicating just how warm the water is off the east coast at the minute.
Following on from numerous and unfortunate rock fishing accidents and fatalities, the NSW Government has proposed legislation to go before parliament for the compulsory wearing of life jackets for rock fishing.
The legislation has raised quite a few concerns on its viability and success in prevention of such incidents and all concerned should read the following web link to draw their own views.
