X Factor winner Cyrus will be given the keys to Wollongong during the Hawks match against the 36ers

The Illawarra’s newest mega star will be recognised for his contribution to Wollongong by receiving the keys to the city Friday night.

Cyrus Villanueva will be honoured during the Illawarra Hawks final home game against the Adelaide 36ers at the WIN Entertainment Centre.

Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said the singer did the city proud by representing Wollongong to a global audience with his dedication, passion and humility during The X Factor.

“Wollongong will always be my home. The people ... helped me become who I am. The people who taught me, the people who gave me a chance, and the people who I don’t even know who have supported me,’’ said Villanueva.

Post match the hit-maker will also join the Hawks and greet their biggest fans, signing autographs and take selfies.
