To sign a two-year extension at Western Sydney is an honour and a privilege.
It was something I’d hoped to earn at the beginning of the campaign and with the team travelling the way it is, it couldn’t come at a much better time.
It means I will stay with the Wanderers until well into my 30’s.
Being able to do that is a credit to the coaching staff at the club for helping prolong my career.
If it wasn’t for their support and hard work, I probably wouldn’t still be playing the game at 33 years old.
Even at this age, I am still always learning and improving myself under their care.
They help make an ideal environment to work in which has helped the Wanderers build into the successful club it has become. I hope to continue adding to that success over the next few years.
The best way to do that is on the scoresheet, where I have been able to contribute with regularity in the past couple of weeks.
Goals are the best currency for a striker, so it has been sensational to continue to provide them off the bench.
I am happy to keep playing that role because I’ve always been a firm believer that you don’t change what isn’t broken.
It would be foolish to think I should be in the starting line-up over Mark Bridge because he has been in unbelievable form.
I’ll just keep contributing like I have been. That can continue this weekend against the Wellington Phoenix.
It’s a tricky game for us so we will have to go in with the right frame of mind. They’re sitting towards the bottom of the table, but it’s the sort of match that if you don’t go in with the right mindset, you could get a shock.
Crowd behaviour unacceptable
I love our fans, there is no question about it.
They’ve been incredible since we came into the league just a few seasons ago.
They’ve been great for the players and the league, creating an atmosphere that is second to none.
With that said, it is a pretty disappointing what has gone on in the stands in the past week.
Flares and anything like it are not welcome at our games or any others.
It’s that simple.
We want to play in an environment where games are friendly for everyone in attendance.
These antics jeopardize that and are a huge detractor to what we at the Wanderers are doing as a football club this season.
If we are to eventually lose competition points because of it, it would be extremely disappointing.
For the players and coaching staff to be punished for something they have no control of would be very disheartening.
They only way to prevent that from happening is to make sure the poor behaviour doesn’t continue in the stands.
