The three-bedroom residence at 11 Apollo Drive, is located in one of the original parts of the Shell Cove development and certainly stands out from many of the other homes in the street.
From the street, curved lines are juxtaposed against sharp angles, with a distinctive porthole window framed by a flat roof and a curved awning over the entrance.
A sharp diagonal roof section from the rear of the house juts out above the slope at the front, while a more traditional pitched roof creates a triangular roof line on the other side of the house.
Spinelli Real Estate principal mark Spinelli said the home was a real “one-off” in terms of its contemporary design elements.
“It’s a pretty unique home,” Mr Spinelli said. “It was certainly ahead of its time.”
Inside, the combination of shapes continues, with a mix of square, rectangular and another large porthole window at the back. A curved section of ceiling contrasts with a nearby high pitched ceiling, together creating a sense of light and space.
Other interesting design elements include a bridge upstairs linking the different zones, with exposed structural beams, a metal mesh floor and wire balustrades, creating sturdy industrial feel against the open spaces.
Mr Spinelli said the upstairs living areas combined indoor and outdoor living zones with a large balcony allowing the sea breeze to flow through the house.
“Upstairs has a couple of different living areas, with a nice outside area where you slide the doors across and get the sea breeze. There are timber floors throughout the living areas and and a gorgeous kitchen with caesar stone bench tops that flows to the dining area.”
Downstairs features two bedrooms, bathroom, and a large living space with a bar that flows out to an entertaining deck, concrete pool and covered barbecue area.
Located a flat walk, about 400 metres from the Shell Cove marina development, the home is ideally positioned close to a children’s playground, schools and all the marina and retail precinct will have to offer.
The home is on the market for $939,000.00. It was last sold for $529,000 in April 2011, reflecting the strong growth in property values in the Shellharbour local government area.
The first open house is on Saturday from 10am and coincides with the second release of The Waterfront land lots at Shell Cove.
Called The Nautica, this release has 24 lots ranging in size from 377 square metres to 778 square metres. All are within 250 metres of the town centre and are only available to registered buyers.
