The NRL trialed the use of a 30-second shot-clock for line drop-outs and 35 seconds to pack scrums last year and will implement the measure for the 2016 NRL season.

The clock was used in Saturday’s Charity Shield but appeared to have little impact on either speeding up or slowing down the contest.

Respective captains Ben Creagh and John Sutton said it went largely unnoticed during the game.

‘‘I wouldn’t say it was a factor. I didn’t notice it too much to tell you the truth,” Creagh said.

‘‘It seemed like the normal amount of time to get back for a drop-out or to get to a scrum.

‘‘There was no guys needing to run or rush to get there so I don’t think it was too much of a problem.

Sutton voiced the same opinion.

‘‘I didn’t really notice it at all to be honest,” he said.
