Noel Ronald Munro, 61, of Buckland Street, appeared in Milton Local Court before Magistrate Dr Gabriel Fleming on Wednesday charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard on November 28 last year Munro allegedly assaulted a woman at Mollymook.
Police evidence stated the man and woman had been arguing all day with the accused leaving in the woman’s car.
He returned between 8pm and 8.26pm and again attempted to leave in the car, with the woman placing her foot onto the vehicle’s footwell in an attempt to stop him.
Munro allegedly grabbed the woman on the genitals and squeezed harshly.
She managed to push free but it is alleged he got out of the vehicle and slapped the woman in the face, near her right eye.
He then allegedly grabbed her by the arms, leaving marks.
Magistrate Fleming sentenced him to 11 months jail with a non-parole period of three months.
Munro has appealed the severity of his sentence. He applied for bail which was refused in Nowra Local Court on Friday.
