A few years ago he made good on that promise, when he walked from Seacliff Bridge to Windang Bridge to raise funds for Illawarra children’s charity KidzWish.
This Sunday he’ll lead the third walk along the 52-kilometre track, this time with a fundraising goal of $10,000.
‘’I’ve got friends who have kids with special needs and when I heard about KidzWish I wanted to help out,’’ Mr Hamilton said. ‘’Since starting the event I’ve become close with families who benefit from KidzWish’s support, and to see the smiles of kids at the finish line makes it all worthwhile.’’
KidzWish events co-ordinator Beau Thatcher encouraged people to get behind the fundraiser through donations, or joining Mr Hamilton for sections of the walk.
‘’All funds raised will help Illawarra families with kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have a disability,’’ he said.
‘’Events like this help fund our music and dance, sports academy and appeals programs.’’
Mr Hamilton will head off from Seacliff Bridge at 6am. A free family fun day will follow the walk at Club Windang from 2pm.
