They claimed two straight National Wheelchair Basketball League titles, and now the Wollongong Roller Hawks are ready to conquer the world.
The Roller Hawks are heading to Japan later this month to represent the Oceania region at the world club championships.
Other teams taking part include the Dallas Mavericks (American zone), Galatasarray (European) and Miyagi Max (Asia).
"These teams have some of the world's best players," Roller Hawks team manager Pablo Jimenez said.
"It's the first time the Roller Hawks will participate in this tournament." Lining up for Wollongong will be Paralympians Brett Stibner, Tige Simmons, Nick Taylor and Grant Mizens.
The full touring team will be Stibners (c), Taylor, Mizens, Simmons, Luke Pople, Shawn Russell, Brad Fisher, Tim Markcrow, Darren Hayes, Eino Okkonen and Andrew Tarrant. The coaching and training staff consists of Brendan Dowler, Jimenez and Hector Bonilla.
Meanwhile, the 2012 Slam Down Under wheelchair basketball event will be held at Shellharbour stadium on October 20-21.
Illawarra are up against teams from New Zealand, Tasmania, Albury, Wagga, Victoria and Queensland, while the Australian under 23 side is also playing.
