It was his Labor Government who had the chance to fix the problem & did nothing as the photograph in The Illawarra Mercury on Saturday 9/4/16 clearly shows.

Pink slip extension no go
The main reason for registration delays, I found as a government employee, (retired) was the lack of funds for repairs, the lack funds to pay, or both.
For safety reasons, certificates of road-worthiness (pink slips) were only valid if dated within a month prior to the registration expiry or within six weeks after the registration expired.
Any certificates submitted outside the timeframe required vehicle re-inspection.
A great percentage of people owning unregistered vehicles, though aware of the state of disrepair and lack of insurance, drive them anyway. The Baird government has decided to extend the validity of pink slips from six weeks to six months on the pretext of vehicle owners saving money.
I cannot see the sense of extending the legitimacy of pink slips now that registration identification labels (stickers) have been abolished. It just give an excuse for the prolonged use of unroadworthy and uninsured vehicles.

We don’t get to pick PM
The consequences of Tony Abbott becoming our prime minister continue to haunt as we approach this year’s election day.
The 2013 media campaign portrayed Mr. Abbott as being “the ultimate all Australian” a community volunteer, honest, strong and trustworthy; the epitome of “what you see is what you get”.
His opponent, Kevin Rudd presented as resembling a rather vociferous “stale milky bar kid” and the Australian electorate voted accordingly.
The media was probably right about Rudd and absolutely wrong about Abbott! The lesson hopefully learned is the real test of political credibility is, has the political party seeking your vote delivered on election campaign promises previously? Have those policies made Australia a more equitable and more inclusive society?
Much is said about which party has the best record of economic management and employment creation?
The appropriate answer to this being “how long is a piece of string?”
As for the voters actually selecting a PM, what a crock of codswallop!
The parties choose their leader not us.
The media circus of Australians having a choice between a “mouthy Malcom or a “boring Bill” is but a side show and should be seen as such by thinking voters.

Whyalla bailout a mistake
Using Taxpayers money to bail out the Whyalla Steelworks would be a huge financial mistake.
What the Turnbull Government should do is to buy the entire ailing enterprise, and run it until it returns to profitability once more.
Everyone has forgotten that the Government is already involved in the NBN Communications Enterprise, and is investing far more in that, than would be required to save Whyalla Steelworks and the thousands of jobs connected to it.
If Turnbull gives a handout, Taxpayers would never see the money again.
My way would see how to get its money back. To hear Christopher Pyne urging everyone to Buy Australian Steel, and then find out that his political colleague Premier Baird has bought steel from Spain, I feel like throwing up.
Malcolm Turnbull will definitely not win the next Federal Election. His credibility is Zero.
