Illawarra Women in Business is for every woman who is keen to learn, share ideas and collaborate with others for mutual success – whether you operate a home based business or looking to start up your own business, employed or self employed, a professional, an executive or someone who has a great business idea.
At IWIB, they are committed to attracting people who are business focused, positive and success oriented, dedicated to building long-term business relationships, and looking for an inspirational, motivational environment - men are welcome too.
It all began 10 years ago when a few business women met on a regular basis for lunch including mortgage broker Suzanne Kent, Dianne Chalk from Hillross Fairy Meadow and Glenda Papac, a practice manager at Tony Papac & Associates.
After some lunches Suzanne said, “Wouldn’t it be great if we could grow this and have more women to network with!”
Soon after, Suzanne started Illawarra Women in Business and the group used to meet for informal lunch meetings every six weeks.
In 2007 Suzanne left the Illawarra and went over to the UK to live and work so Glenda Papac and Delyse Del Turco took over with the brand changing to IWIB...and the new transformation began.

Glenda and Delyse wanted to grow IWIB, taking on subscribers (or members) and much needed sponsors.
The first IWIB sponsor was the DRB Group with the Illawarra Mercury soon to follow with the help of the Illawarra Mercury’s promotion manager Maria Thomson - and so IWIB grew to the well-respected business women’s networking group it is today.
With a young family and a growing accounting practice, Delyse del Turco stepped down as a director of IWIB in 2014. Glenda is now sole director and took on an advisory board – Margaret Biggs from TIGS, Dianne Chalk from Hillross Fairy Meadow and Virginia Wren from Illawarra ITeC.
The three high profile business women provided the range of expertise needed for a sound working structure.
At IWIB you will meet like-minded women, share business ‘challenges’ and solutions, raise your business profile, expand your network, achieve cost-effective PR, keep in touch with trends plus take part in events.
IWIB events include:
- Six-weekly IWIB Business Networking Lunch events
- IWIB Coffee Club every six weeks from 10-11am
- Annual IWIB Illawarra Businesswomen's Awards
- Annual IWIB Business Women's Long Lunch & Expo Day (Conference Day)
