This year marks the 10th anniversary of Illawarra Women in Business (IWIB) that has grown to become the largest women’s networking group in the Illawarra. The anniversary is being celebrated at the IWIB Awards event this Friday on April 29 at City Beach Function Centre in Wollongong.
This energetic business networking group is dedicated to women helping women in business development, as well as professional and personal growth.
IWIB director Glenda Papac said, “The main objective of IWIB is to provide women with a networking forum to strengthen their own networks, which in turn develops a strong network of business and personal contacts and support for those who regularly attend IWIB events.
“It’s about getting to know who we do business with and who we refer our clients and customers to. We are proud of the development of IWIB to where it is today.
“We feel we are consistent and fair to everyone, as we believe that competition is healthy, making our own individual businesses healthy and strong. Even businesses joining IWIB who are competitors with our own individual business are promoted as strongly as any other business joining IWIB.”
IWIB provides the Illawarra with dynamic business networking events every three weeks, alternating between a lunch event with inspirational speakers such as Turia Pitt and IWIB Coffee Club.
Both events attract women – and men – from a diverse range of businesses throughout the Illawarra, from home-based sole traders to corporates.

At IWIB they provide a first-class networking arena where business people can network in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
“We want everyone to build and strengthen their own individual networks, to have a strong network of business and personal contacts dedicated to helping each other in their business development, resulting in professional and personal growth,” she said.
“We actively promote and encourage people to be more community minded, and encourage networking through supporting fundraising events for local Illawarra charities and not for profits.”
IWIB supports a different local charity at each networking lunch event, IWIB Awards Day and IWIB Conference Day. They also encourage IWIB subscribers to organise their own charity fundraising events.
They believe in giving back to the community, as it’s not all about their own gains.
