Long-serving players Forman and Rhys Martin join Cody Ellis, Kevin White and AJ Ogilvy to commit to the Hawks next season. Forman has played 451 career NBL games, after debuting for the Adelaide 36ers in 2001, as well as 175 in Hawks colours.
"I'm thrilled to be back for another season with the Hawks, especially after such an enjoyable year last year,” he said. “The chemistry we had in the group was incredible and played a crucial role in our success, and by adding some new players to the core I feel we can definitely go further and I want to be a part of that.”
Coach Rob Beveridge will look to the NBA Summer League to secure the club’s imports, with a focus on signing a talented guard to replace Kevin Lisch, who signed a big-money deal with the Sydney Kings.
Hawks general manager Kim Welch is confident of unearthing a game-changer in the NBL. “Bevo and I will look to head over to the NBA Summer League so we can give ourselves every opportunity to secure the best talent available,” he said.
“He [Bevo] has some established contacts in the US, so we need to get over there and utilise those contacts and bring ourselves back a game changer.” The Hawks finished third last season, losing the semi-final decider to eventual champions Perth.
Forman played a more defensive minded game, but is likely to be called on for his noted three-point shooting in the absence of NBL MVP Lisch and Kirk Penney.
