But the victor of last Saturday’s Metro Mayhem has no room to move after his wife provided the winning play.
‘Dejan’ won $12,850 cash by beating 170 other players in the tournament, which cost only $110 to enter.
Coming to the last race at Morphettville, ‘Dejan’ was running second and could have coasted into the money without risking his bank.
He asked his wife for advice on what horse to back and she simply answered, two.
The two in the last race at Adelaide, the final race of the tournament, was Don’t Doubt Mamma.
‘Dejan’ had $99,500 in tournament chips and placed two bets on Don’t Doubt Mamma.
The first was a clean $50,000 and then he went again with the last $49,500, pushing all the chips in on the Tony McEvoy trained mare.
Don’t Doubt Mamma drifted slightly in betting as support grew for Miss Gunpowder and it looked as though Miss Gunpowder may have the race won until Don’t Doubt Mamma surged late to get the cash.
There is another Metro Mayhem tournament on this weekend, taking in racing from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
It costs $110 to play and the entry free provides $10,000 BettaBucks, or fantasy dollars.
To celebrate the Brisbane winter carnival, we are putting on a $250,000 tournament, where the winner will be guaranteed $100,000 cash.
We gave away $250,000 for our tournament on The Championships but this will be a little different as it will cost only $110 to play.
Players will be able to re-buy up to 10 times, ensuring they can stay in the running for the prize if they desire.
