Co-owner Yen Phan wasn’t bothered that the seaside suburb already boasts four Thai restaurants and one Chinese themed eatery, saying it only showed how much the locals loved Asian inspired dishes.
The new venture will be different to the Keira Street staple which has been feeding the Illawarra for the past 22 years.
Ms Phan said they will still offer a variety of meals from different Asian countries, but with a change of menu between lunch and dinner.
The venue, on the corner of Lawrence Hargrave Drive and Bath Street, can only seat 30 to 35 peoples so the owners decided on a “fast food” style rather than a la carte.
Ms Phan believes the success of Food World ids due to their authentic cuisine, and also hoped to enjoy the same success with the new venture.
The new restaurant is yet to be named, but is expected to open mid-May.
