The rantings of John Macleod needs to be put into some perspective.
A genuine conservative is a person who upholds and defends what is both good and beneficial to society.
An example would be protecting the traditional Christian view of marriage and family.
The idea that workers and families only suffer under the Liberals is just socialist nonsense full of your anti-conservative bias.
What a disgraceful mischaracterisation that conservatives view workers with cap in hand, peering through the railings at the big house on the hill; an outcast with no hope.
This is typical of the marxist view.
Only workers are angels while all business people and the wealthy are demons.
So according to John Macleod a young person who works hard and achieves success and wealth should be view as evil. What an insane view.

Tax haven troubles
Multi-national companies incorporate branches in Australia, sell their products through a tax haven, and lend them millions of dollars to buy their products.
They, then, receive a tax deduction on higher expenses on their own product brought in a tax haven and interest charged on their own money.
Meanwhile aged pension entitlements are slashed because the government does not have a revenue problem.

Policing the path
The potential for serious injury to walkers and small children by the anti social behaviour of speeding cyclists who have little regard for the safety of others is frightening.
Packs of these Lycra clad hoons use the "shared" track as a speedway with no perceptible supervision by council or the police.
There are no signs limiting cycle speeds or placing any restrictions on these cyclists, let alone anyone to enforce safety. When asked to slow down we have been sworn at.
Since these brave hoons have their faces covered with helmets and sunglasses, and have no number plates, there is no way to identify them in the event of an accident.
Council needs to take responsibility for policing the path, limit the the speeds of bikes or ban them from the path altogether.
Cyclists bleat about how they are harassed on roads by cars;on the Blue Mile they are the ones doing the harassing presenting an unacceptable danger to the public.
The Blue Mile is an accident waiting to happen unless Council does something about it immediately.

Truckie falls short
It looks like it back to the bad old days of truckies being underpaid and trip money.
I have told this true story a number of times about a truckie driving a load of fruit and veggies from Shepparton in Victoria to the Brisbane markets and then being paid to drive the empty truck to Port Kembla for a load of steel for Melbourne.
He got the huge sum of $65.

Lord Mayor genuinely cares
Last Friday in Wollongong Mall I watched our Lord Mayor, Gordon Bradbery gather up all the pages of a wind blown newspaper that was scuttling through the mall and put it in the bin.
He did this quietly, without seeking any particular attention.
This act shows our Lord Mayor as person who genuinely cares for our city.
He is not afraid to get his hands dirty, in order to do the right thing and get the litter in the bin. He sets a good example for us all!
Thank you, Lord Mayor.
