When Lisa Burling started a PR business on a laptop on her kitchen table three years ago little did she know what lay ahead. But she had a go and LBPR has gone from strength to strength.
Thinking outside the square is one of many of Ms Burling’s business traits. She works on the philosophy that if you have a dream you can make it happen.
That attitude led her to meet Richard Branson last year and launch Australia’s first student PR consultancy in collaboration with the University of Wollongong to help nurture young PR talent as well as small businesses and charities.
She won Best New Business in 2015. LBPR won Outstanding New Illawarra Business at the Illawarra Business Awards and was named Micro Consultancy of the Year by the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA). On Friday she also won Best Small Business and Innovative Business Woman.
