Organisers are anticipating about 25,000 people to descend on Illawarra Regional Airport for the 10th annual airshow on Saturday and Sunday.
The two-day event will feature Australia’s own ‘Top Gun’, Paul Bennet, the Russian Roolettes, Chris Clarke in his 1943 Boeing Stearman biplane, as well as classic warbirds Spitfire and Mustang.
Ground attractions include simulators, aviation stalls and helicopter joy flights.
Wings Over Illawarra organiser Mark Bright said Illawarra was rich in aviation history, including Australian pioneer of flight, Lawrence Hargrave, making his successful flight with his box kite design on the beach below Bald Hill in 1894.
