The Warilla park went up in flames in late February, with the fire destroying play equipment used by children attending the nearby pre-school and public school.
The Illawarra Forum has received funding for the project from the State Government’s Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF).
Shellharbour MP Anna Watson said Crew Park was one of nine Illawarra projects funded.
‘’I am absolutely delighted that the Illawarra Forum has been successful in attracting this funding,’’ Ms Watson said.
‘’Crew Park was recently damaged by mindless vandalism.
‘’There is a great community spirit in Warilla and Crew Park is a symbol of persistence and determination.
‘’I was very pleased to provide some funding under the Community Building Partnerships (CBP) program a couple of years ago to help improve the facilities at Crew Park.
‘’This latest funding will help a determined local community improve Crew Park for the benefit of the many children in Warilla.’’
