Some may have been nursing headaches after it, however others were nursing injuries after celebrations got out of hand.
I have spoken about this before but I think it is a timely reminder to all, have a drink, enjoy yourself but do not over indulge.
Intoxicating liquor can turn a good person into a monster.
When you are in a pub or a club having a cold one, remember that if you are showing signs of intoxication you may well be asked to leave.
Signs of intoxication include - slurred speech, raised voice, swaying, slow movements, gating while walking and impaired movement.
These are only some of the signs that indicate that you have had enough to drink.
Section 77 of the Liquor Act 2007 states;
An authorised person may refuse to admit to, or may turn out of, licensed premises any person:
(a) who is at the time intoxicated, violent, quarrelsome or disorderly, or
(b) whose presence on the licensed premises renders the licensee liable to a penalty under this Act, or
(c) who smokes, within the meaning of the smoke free environment act 2000, while on any part of the licensed premises that is a smoke-free area within the meaning of that Act, or
(d) who uses, or has in his or her possession, while on the premises any substance that the authorised person suspects of being a prohibited plant or a prohibited drug, or
(e) whom the authorised person, under the conditions of the licence or according to a term (of the kind referred to in section 134 or 136D) of a liquor accord, is authorised or required to refuse access to the licensed premises.
To cut a long story short this means, if you drink too much you will be asked to leave.
You do not have to be drunk to be asked to leave.
If you argue the point you can be fined $550.
If you get turned out of the club/pub (not voluntary) and return within 24 hours you can be fined a further $550.
If you return to the vicinity (less than 50 metres) you can be fined another $550.
If you are asked to leave just go quietly and you will save lots of dollars.
And do not drink and drive.
Also remember that you can “Dob in a Dealer” any time you like by ringing Crime Stoppers.
