“I've been travelling to and from Sydney by train on and off (mainly commuting) for over 50 years,” Pamela Rose said on Facebook.
“I have never had to stand the whole way home until last August on the way home from a domestic flight.”
Aron Oxley said he worked in Redfern but didn’t bother trying to catch the train from that station any more.
“Only once did I catch it back from there,” he said. “Stood all the way to Helensburgh. I now go to Central then get on the train there and get a seat.”
Crystal Gordon said it doesn’t take long for the train to fill up.
“Every day I travel home on the train starting from Central,” she said.
“And as soon as it gets to the next stop at Redfern it's full and people have to stand up the whole way until Helenburgh.”
Some readers blamed the Sydney commuters for causing the problem.
“It's only crowded from Central to Sutherland the the trains are near empty,” Natasha Panetta said.
“If they cut the Hurstville and Sutherland stops out then the problem would be gone.”
