Shoalhaven residents should be happy as we have been chosen along with Oxley, Sutherland and St George to pilot the scheme.
The NSW Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) is a tool to enable a person who has concerns about their partner, or a third party who has concerns about a person’s partner, to find out if that partner has a history of domestic violence and related offences.
It is a police led scheme and is for both women and men who may be at risk.
The scheme is not a register or a list. It is a tool to seek information about a person’s violent offending history.
Concerned people, either a ‘primary person’ or a relevant ‘third party’ can make a DVDS application at a police station within the four pilot local area commands.
The NSW Police Force will receive and review applications and undertake criminal record checks to determine whether a relevant conviction exists that requires a disclosure.
Where a disclosure is needed, the disclosure will be made to the ‘primary person’.
For more information about the scheme, get on the Google Net and have a look at the NSW Police Website.
It’s the start of a new school term and all the kids between six and 17 should be either enrolled in school or going to school.
If they are not at school they better have a very good reason and have supporting documents in their possession to verify their story or else they will be looked upon as truants.
It was written in “On the Beat” many moons ago. It’s the parents of the truant child that are committing an offence and they will be going to court to explain themselves if their child continually dodges school.
So the message is - speak to the kids and make sure that they go to school so you don’t go to court.
Also remember that you can “Dob in a Dealer” any time you like by ringing Crime Stoppers.
As always, in case of an emergency call 000. In non-emergencies call the Policelink on 131 444 or your local police station. To provide anonymous information call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
