On Saturday (May 7), the community can have their say during Kiama council’s plebiscite on the state government’s merger proposal.
The poll, managed by the Electoral Commission, will ask Kiama municipality residents “do you want Kiama Municipal Council to amalgamate with another council?” Results are not binding, and voting is not compulsory. Polling booths will be open from 8am-6pm at Gerringong RSL Hall, Gerroa Neighbourhood Centre, Jamberoo Public School, The Pavilion, Kiama Public School, Minnamurra Public School, North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre and Werri Beach Progress Hall.
There are 16,826 enrolled voters within the municipality.
As of 2 pm Friday 3708 pre-poll votes had been cast.
