Season over, but not for some. Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory are through to the knockout stage of the Asian Champions League. That's a first for Australia. It's also a massive relief for Archie Thompson, who has extended his Victory career until the end of the month. "I've survived the guillotine", he joked at full-time after this week's historic win over Gamba Osaka. Don't be fooled. The smile will be replaced by tears when he does depart after the round of 16 match in Jeonju on May 24. An A-League without Archie in the Big V just won't be the same.
