A large number of members and representatives of other local clubs attended a birthday function at the St Georges Basin Country Club.
Official guests included National VIEW vice-president Toni Thomas and National Councillor for the region Pat McRae, while two former national presidents, Heather Isemonger and Lorraine Montgomery were also present.
One of the special presentations during the day was long service awards, with Audrey Stokes awarded her 30-year service badge, while Jean Blay, Helen Cody, Dianne Doust, Jillian Mackay and Lesleigh Morley were presented with10-year badges.
VIEW was formed in 1960, with Basin VIEW forming in May 1976.
The inaugural meeting was held on May 31, 1976 at the Vincentia Golf Club with 21 people present. Foundation president was Mrs Mona Driscoll.
Thirty-three badges were presented at the inaugural luncheon, which cost $3 for a three course meal, with 110 ladies in attendance. The raffle raised $5.60.
Membership to June 1976 was 56 members.
Meetings were held at the Sanctuary Point Restaurant from 1983 until 2006 when the organisation moved to the Country Club.
Today, St Georges Basin VIEW Club boasts 80 members.
