The Sky Blues drew 1-1 with Shandong in China last Wednesday and need only to register a win or scoreless draw to book their place in the last eight for the first time.

But Jurman has warned against the idea of looking for a 0-0 draw, saying his team must attack in the same manner as the first leg if they want to make the quarter-finals.

"We have to go through and play like last time. We have to play attacking football and try and get another goal," he said before training on Monday. "I don't like sitting back and trying to defend what we have got. If we keep attacking it will put them on the back foot.

"But it is massive to have scored an away goal. We wanted to play over there first, [get the goal] and come home for the second game."

While the Sky Blues have played in three A-League grand finals, winning two of them, Jurman is in no doubt about how big this match is.

"It's probably the biggest game in the club's history," he said. "We've never been this far in the ACL. It's a massive game and hopefully all the fans come out and support us.

"To get through to the [quarter-finals], that can't be better for the club. It's huge. Individually we have to be up for this game. It's massive so hopefully we can get the win."

Jurman agreed with the notion put forward by club chief executive Tony Pignata that the Australian market hasn't realised how prestigious the ACL is.

"I don't think people realise how big this tournament is," he said. "It's the Asian Champions League, it's the equivalent of the European Champions League, so for us it can't get any bigger than this. We need to get the win and go into the last eight. It would be a massive achievement."

While Sydney are considered a terrific chance to advance to the quarter-finals, Jurman is aware of Shandong's elite talent, headlined by striker Diego Tardelli, who scored the equaliser last week in Jinan.

"It's going to be tough for them with the travel but they are still a quality team and they have some quality players," he said. "We need to be careful, we need to make sure we defend well and not give them any chances."

Jurman had the armband for the first time in his career against Shandong and is keen to keep the captaincy for another week.

"It was massive for me. I was really proud to put it on for the club I was supporting since I was a boy," he said. "It was a proud moment for me and my family to wear the armband for that game and hopefully on Wednesday night I can wear it again and get us through to the round of eight."
