O’Hara suffered a punctured lung, a broken collarbone and broken ribs when she fell after being pushed wide coming off the turn aboard Canberra trainer Nick Olive’s Single Gaze, which she had previously won the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes.
It’s been a slow recovery, but a determined O’Hara was excited to be in action.
“Had a good hit out this morning at Kembla jump outs riding a few for Rob and Luke Price” O’Hara tweeted.
“I'll be back to race fitness in no time!!” O’Hara believes she was fortunate her injuries only kept her away from the track for six weeks.
"I'm quite lucky looking at [the fall] and it could have been much worse,” she said.
Racing NSW's retiring chief steward Ray Murrihy absolved any rider of blame after finalising an inquiry into O’Hara’s fall. Single Gaze clipped the heels of Happy Hannah rounding the turn in the $1 million race.
