Embattled Wollongong MP Noreen Hay has been replaced as Opposition Whip by Member for Cabramatta Nick Lalich.
Mr Lalich, who had been Deputy Opposition Whip, was elected unopposed at a meeting of the Labor caucus on Thursday afternoon.
The result came as no surprise after Ms Hay on Tuesday directed her colleagues to support Opposition Leader Luke Foley and declared she wouldn’t contest the role.
Mr Foley had called for Ms Hay to resign as whip or he would quit as leader.
The whip organises MPs and their involvement in divisions and debates within Parliament – a disciplinary, team manager-like role.
Ms Hay, who remains the Labor Member for Wollongong, could not be contacted late on Thursday.

11am: The NSW opposition is set to elect a new whip after Luke Foley threatened to quit as Labor leader in a bid to force current whip Noreen Hay out.
Mr Foley demanded Ms Hay's resignation on Sunday following revelations one of her staffers had been charged in relation to a federal police investigation into electoral fraud.
But the controversial Wollongong MP refused, saying she had done nothing wrong, with Mr Foley then issuing an ultimatum, saying he would put the matter to a Labor caucus vote on Thursday afternoon.
