Continuing their remarkable Group Seven resurgence, the Blacks prevailed 30-28.
However, it came amid high drama as the Jets, with two seconds left looked like they had snatched a late victory.
Jets five-eighth Geoff Johnson put a kick through as the clock ran down and in the frantic scramble, fullback Dwayne Connors dived on the ball to score.
However, celebrations turned to anguish when the Jets players realised referee Nick McInerney had penalised them for being in front of the kicker.
It advances Port’s winning record to 5-2 and within striking distance of the top of the ladder.
Nowra led 12-nil, before Port Kembla fought their way back into the contest to lead 20-18 at half-time.
But Nowra hit back, before Tane Sturmey made it 30-28 with a determined run to score with five minutes left.
