The report, commissioned by Playgroup Australia found that parents’ participation and involvement in playgroup provided huge benefits, especially in forming strong social connections. Bellambi mum Jill Macauley who attends Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre’s Banardos supported playgroup with her four-year-old son Jacob said she first began attending playgroup with her daughter Sienna, now aged seven.
“I didn’t know many people and a friend recommended playgroup,” Mrs Macauley said. “It gets me out of the house and its a chance to meet other mums and see what their kids are doing. Jacob and I both really look forward to it.”
