In speaking about the National Day of Thanksgiving Warwick Marsh said it was a day to thank special people. “This year it is about unsung heroes. It is about those who serve in the medical profession and those who serve in the community.” Mr Marsh said the essence of the medical profession was professional service and the city wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who works in health care. “Dr Turner we would like you to receive this award on behalf of the National Day of Thanks,” he said.
Mr Marsh then presented him the Medicine Medical-Research Health Care Award. “This man has been involved with so much in the community. I know how he has helped Dads in Distress. He has been helping in pre-schools, serving on the board of General Practice and is an associate professor in a volunteer capacity at Wollongong university. We say a big thank you for all you do.” Dr Turner said he loved Wollongong and its people because of his love of Christ and Christ’s love for him.
