Festival director Chris Richards said the dance festival was an extension of the creative arts curriculum.
This years event features 26 schools including 12 primary and 14 high schools and students from the Southern Stars Performing Company.
“The festival is very inclusive as well as striving to improve the abilities of both students and their teachers,” he said.
“We aim to encourage the development and teaching of dance programs at school and provide constructive feedback during the rehearsal and audition process so both students and their teachers learn and progress through being involved.”
The show starts Wednesday night with evening performances until Saturday. Matinees are on Thursday and Friday at noon. Tickets at: www.merrigong.com.au.
