Glen David Findall, 33, was busted driving while disqualified on May 19 then again on May 27 – both times with a passenger in the car.
Wollongong Local Court heard Findall first lost his licence in 2004 and has committed so many traffic-related offences since that his accumulative disqualification periods mean his is ineligible to apply for a licence again until 2056.
His crimes include five drink driving charges and 11 counts of driving while cancelled or disqualified.
The 40-year wait will put Findall at the ripe age of 73 when he is able to regain his licence.
The court heard the first of Findall’s recent offences occurred in the early hours of May 19 when he was seen driving a Holden Barina east along Crown Street in West Wollongong towards an random breath testing site.
Police pulled Findall’s vehicle into the lineup for testing, but when he was asked to produce his licence, Findall told the officer he’d left it at home.
The truth was soon discovered however when police recognised Findall as a serial traffic offender.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged but released on bail later that morning on the condition that he not drive.
However, just eight days later police again spotted Findall behind the wheel, this time driving a Holden VX Commodore along the Princes Highway.
When pulled over, he told police he’d just picked up the car saying “I need transport to get around”.
Findall pleaded guilty in court on Monday to charges stemming from both incidents and sought release on bail.
However presiding magistrate David Degnan refused the application, saying it was obvious Findall “completely disobeys” court orders.
He will be sentenced on June 14, where he faces a further period of disqualification being added to his current time off the road.
