Troon, a leader in upscale golf facility management, development and marketing, has agreed to be part of a strategic $7m refurbishment of the Grange clubhouse, function facilities and golf course. It follows a decision by The Grange and Dapto Leagues board to ensure continued prosperity, membership loyalty and growth for the club. It coincides with Troon wanting to drive golf tourism to the South Coast. It can do that through the global club network of 200 clubs under management worldwide.
Club president Gary Tozer said it was the start of a new era for the 52 year old club.
“As part of our ongoing strategy to strive for better customer experience, we’re already underway improving our clubhouse, the events facilities and the golf course itself,” he said.
Mr Tozer said the board wanted the club to not only be a great community sport and leisure destination for the people of the Illawarra but also the world.
In the process of making it appeal to a wider audience the club and Troon are planning to encourage more social activities at the venue and improve the course layout to challenge all golf enthusiasts.
Troon International Division chief operating officer and managing director Bruce Glasco described the The Grange and Dapto League’s approach to continually improving customer experience as the same as the international company’s own commitment to supporting the communities around its 200 clubs worldwide.
“The Grange presented us with the opportunity for a perfect partnership,” he said.
Stage one of the development includes the new club house, pro shop, amenities, bar and cafe, 200 guest function room, gardens and front entrance being completed later this year.
Dapto Leagues Club chief executive David Hiscox said it was an ambitious project to invest in renovation, expansion and improved course design that would exceed people’s existing expectations.
“The revitalised club will expand its appeal to cater for everyone’s needs on and off the course from weddings to conferences, not to mention attract additional golf tourism to the South of NSW boosting the local economy,” he said.
