After just two training sessions, Wollongong signed Hadid just three days before the transfer window closed on Friday for the remainder of the 2016 campaign.
The 27-year-old has played extensively throughout the NSW National Premier League Men’s 1 and 2 competitions in recent years and had a stint with the now defunct Gold Coast A-League club in 2011. His arrival is a timely one for the Wolves, who look to have lost Simonoski for rest of the season with osteitis pubis.
It is hoped he can provide Wollongong with some extra go-forward throughout the back half of the campaign.
“With his history in the league, I thought he could be a good addition for the remaining nine or 10 games of the season,” Timpano said.
“We has been around the State League for quite a few years and he has scored some goals,.
“He is probably a bit short of a gallop at the moment but I am hoping in a few weeks he can add a bit in the front third which we have lacked at times.”
While he was happy with the addition, Timpano was disappointed to lose Simonoski.
“He is probably our top player in the team so it is very difficult to lose someone like him,” he said.
“He is difficult to replace but hopefully Aman can give us something towards the back end.”
Hadid will be eligible to play for Wollongong in their important meeting with Blacktown Spartans on Saturday night.
The Spartans are last in the top division and bottom of the competition’s Club Championship.
The Wolves could put a big buffer on the Blacktown club with positive results across all three grades.
“I spoke to all of the senior teams last night at training and let them know how important a weekend this is for us as a club as a whole,” Timpano said.
“Obviously there is a still a long way to go but this weekend can give us a good buffer as far as the club championship goes. It is important but in saying that, they are at the foot of the table so they will be out to do exactly what we are trying to do.
“It will be a tough match for all three grades but I am hoping go away from home and pick up points.”
Wollongong are set to welcome back Darcy Madden for the match.
